The Church of St John’s Waterloo is located at the very heart of London, beside Waterloo Station. Destroyed by a wartime bomb in 1941, it was rebuilt as the celebratory ‘Festival of Britain’ church and re-opened in May 1951.To mark this 60th anniversary, the 5 summer Festivals of Arts & Ideas will run until 2015.

The Festival focuses on the effect of war on people and communities; civilians, the military and refugees. The art and music programmes, debates, discussions and community engagement arise from and investigate the ways in which communities and individuals are changed by war.
