Bacup Natural History Society

Bacup Natural History Society, or "The Nat" as it is more fondly known locally, is situated on Yorkshire Street, Bacup. It is home to many domestic, industrial, religious, military and local history artifacts.

We hold a well stocked library of local history books, pamphlets and gazetteers along with various research collections. Our photograph collection includes over 4,000 local photographs and lantern slides. We have a large collection of other documents relating to the many churches in Bacup as well as various maps and some plans.

Visitors are welcome to come and view our comprehensive collection of old local newspapers such as the Bacup Times, The Bacup & Stacksteads Chronicle and several issues of the Bacup Echo.

In November 2014 we opened our 1914 Fern Hill Military Hospital diorama.
