40s and forces at Lamphey Bishops Palace

  • 11 — 12 July 2015 10:30am-4pm

Fans of the 40s can step back in time and meet American GIs and the Women's Land Army as they set up full military camp at the former Bishop's retreat in west Wales. Visitors will have the opportunity to walk among the encampment and to meet the American 'soldiers' who were stationed at the Palace prior to the Normandy Landings during World War II.

Visitors who look close enough may also spot traces of the site's rich military past throughout the spectacular Palace. Cadw archaeologists will be on hand to talk with guests and help them understand the role Lamphey played in the war effort.

Hands-on activities, living history, talks and displays will be provided. This event is suitable for the whole family.
