A collection of over 400 taped interviews of Yorkshire Dales Folk collected by W.R. "Bill Mitchell" editor of The Dalesman magazine. Ranging from interviews with Kit Calvert, saviour of Wensleydale Cheese, the Yorke's of Gowthwaite and James Herriot to ordinary Dales farmers, carving a living in the harshest of circumstances, this collection uniquely documents the dialects and lives of men and women in the Yorkshire Dales.

The collection is being digitised, archived, catalogued and curated and will be published on-line, starting in Autumn 2012.
