Giles Bailey & CIRCA Projects: Friend you stand on sacred ground, This is a printing office.

  • 8 — 9 October 2016 11am-4pm

Part of International Print Biennale

This is an informal 'drop-in' workshop, open Saturday and Sunday 11am-4pm

Make posters with artist Giles Bailey & CIRCA Projects in the experimental print room.
Contribute new ideas for future artworks in the form of poster 'footnotes' to be distributed around Newcastle in venues, cafes and bars.

We will have archive material from the north-east region past and present - looking at history, politics, events, people and culture unknown to most, surprising and visually exciting. We invite you to experiment with this material using it to make posters, which we will project in interesting ways inside our host arts space 'The Northern Charter'.

Finally the posters will be printed and circulated across the city - sharing the information we have unearthed.

Giles Bailey is a lecturer in Fine Art at Newcastle University. His work brings together performance, choreography, video, writing and print. CIRCA Projects are a contemporary arts organisation working in Newcastle.

Giles Bailey & CIRCA Projects: World is Sudden: Part 2

  • 14 October 2016 12-2:30am

Giles Bailey & CIRCA Projects – with guests: Eleanor Wright, Mia la Metta, Sarah Kenchington, Susie Green & Simon Bayliss, Dane Law, Cheryl Donegan

World is Sudden: Part 2
at Tusk Festival

Inspired by the collateral, incompatible and sudden world described in Louis MacNiece’ s 1935 poem 'Snow', each event brings together a breadth of live practice, spanning performance, music and sound alongside disparate moving image works, internet video phenomena and archival material. Staged within a specially designed set the works included will be presented as a continuous sequential flow resisting the tyranny of prescribed thematics and embracing “the drunkenness of things being various,” however modestly.
