The Late Shows 2013 at CIRCA Projects, Stephenson Works

18 May 2013 *on now

Since Autumn 2012 this historic building has played host to arts organisation CIRCA Projects' 'Space Release', a 15 month programme of site-responsive exhibitions, performances and screenings by international artists. For the late shows there will be opportunity for visitors to see the last night of Spanish sculptor and conceptual artist Ruben Grilo’s newly commissioned exhibition, 'The Need for Speed'. The exhibition responds to the building's history, as the site of the world’s first purpose built locomotive works, to consider man’s need for acceleration – from the creation of physical communications networks and railways to the internet and virtual networks of information.
