Medieval Fayre at the Old Hall

The Medieval Fayrein association with Plantagenet Events, re-creates a mid year medieval spectacle. With hundreds of re-enactors and over 40 authentic traders, the fayre is one of the most atmospheric on the livig history scene. All is not quite what it seems though. Anglo Saxon/Viking Living History Programme

A school's workshop based at the atmospheric old Hall set in the 10th century AD. Your pupils arrive just after a Viking raid has took place and throughout the session will focus on home life, religion, trade, food, language and geography. Activities include threshing and winnowing, baking, pottery and runes. Some cross curricular links.

Cinderella -Stortyime and Rhyme programme

Tours especially designed for early years. Meet characters from the story of cinderalla, experience the many chores she undertook as a servant in the cellar and kitchens and learn of the transformation she undetook when the fairy god mother cast her spell. Pupils celebrate the end of the story with a formal dance at the ball in the staircase hallway. (duration 1 hour)

Elizabethan Living History Programme

A school workshop set in the grounds of the atmospheric Old Hall in 1581 during the reign of Elizabeth I. Tatton is home to Sir Richard and Lady Dorothy Brereton who are currently away settling a family crisis. the children are travellers looking for the Mansion's hospitality and will become involved in the work of the village - wool has to be spun, wattle and daub panels in timber frame buildings repaired and the years's harvest threshed and winnowed. During your visit a long lost friend will return with news of Tudor adventures, bringing intrigue of court life at Tatton. (Group size: maximum 60, Duration: 10.15-2.15, KS1 & KS2)

Farm Study Tour

A study tour delivered at Tatton's working farm which is virtually untouched since 1938. Includes a look at the livestock, offices, and stores of the period. (Suitable for Foundation, KS1/2/, Duration 1 hour)

Mansion Study Tour

A study tour delivered by costumed guides emphasing the Victorian era. The Mansion was a symbol of the Egerton's wealth and power and was erected between 1780 and 1813. The interior designs and furniture is still much as it was in the 19th century. This study tour incorporates the state rooms and the enormous Victorian kitchens. Medieval Living History Programme

A school workshop based at the atmospheric Old Hall, set in the 1363 when The Lord of the Manor is Sir Hugh Massey. On the day of your visit Sir Hugh Massey is away tending to his estate in South Lancashire and the servants are preparing for his return. Activities include making rush lights and corn dollies, obtaining flour for baking, archery and inspecting the deer herd. Once all the work is done, all the villagers will be summoned to attend the manor Court where a child is being tried for poaching rabbits. Some cross curricular links. Tudor Living History Progamme

A school workshop set at the atmospheric Old Hall. the year is 1536 and Henry V111 is in his twenty-seventh year of his reign. Your students will find themselves in the midst of intrigue as they assist the servants of the Brereton household in their efforts to unearth the truth which might save their master's family.(Group size: maximum 60, Duration: 10.15-2.15, KS1 & KS2)

Victorian Living History Programme

In 1887, the Prince and Princess of Wales honour Tatton with a visit. To help with the preperations, the children will be recruited as extra servants. Before getting down to work, new servants are given strict instructions by the butler or housekeeper rehgarding their behaviour and social status. they will be involved in the day to day running of the Mansion - polishing, making beds, baking scones, scrubbing floors or laying tables. New servants arealso taken around the Mansion so they can see how much work there is to be done in this grand house. (Group size: maximum 48, Duration: 10.15-2.15, KS1 & KS2)

World War Two Living History

A school workshop set at Tatton Park's working Farm in the 1930s. The children are welcomed as guests of Lord Maurice Egeron of Tatton, visiting his own farm. they will meet Aunt Mary, some of the farm workers and farm animals. They will have the opportunity to help out in the day to day running of the farm and at the same time learn about the importance of food.(Group size: maximum 48, Duration: 10.15-2.15, KS2)
