In September 2006, A Foundation launched Greenland Street - three former industrial buildings in the heart of Liverpool's Baltic Triangle which have been transformed into one of the largest and most challenging exhibition spaces for contemporary art in the country.
Building on the previous achievements of the foundation in Liverpool, Greenland Streets' mission is to deliver programmes of activity that showcase the very best local, regional, national and international contemporary visual arts practice.
Greenland Street comprises The Blade Factory, The Coach Shed and The Furnace. A two-phase programme of redevelopment works improved access to all three of the buildings and included the provision of a central reception space with a specialist arts bookshop, cafe and hospitality area.

Access: Greenland Street's galleries are fully accessible with the exception of the first floor and roof of The Blade Factory. Disabled amenities are available in the Blade Factory. Greenland Street has no permanent collection. We present an exciting programme of works by local, national and international contemporary artists. Highlights have included; commissions of new works by Goshka Macuga (2006) and Brian Griffiths (2007) responding to our unique Furnace space; a multi-channel video installation 'Triangle of Need' by Catherine Sullivan (2007);and SIMPARCH's 'Drum 'n' Basin (2007), a skateable architectural installation in the Coach Shed.
Greenland Street also hosts Bloomberg New Contemporaries biannually and is a supporter of the Liverpool International Biennial.

The Economy of the Gift
The Economy of the Gift offers a unique experience for contemporary collectors in search of a boutique scaled art fair. It will present eight artists and eight galleries curated by Ticiana Correa and will explore the idea of value in a time of market crisis.
Four English galleries from outside the London Orbital were asked to select four international partners. Participants then selected an artist represented by their partner. In this process a discourse is created at which the concept of the gift is at the heart of the exchange.

A Curriculum
A Foundation Artist Residency.
Eight artists were chosen from a Europe-wide open submission and will be provided with studio space within A Foundation Liverpool's Blade Factory. Assisting their studio time will be a programme of discussions and tutorials from a wide variety of art professionals.

A Foundation's Light Night
A Foundation will open until late allowing visitors extra time to enjoy our two exhibitions: The Economy of the Gift and Saatchi Northern Stars which will open until 10pm.
From 10pm until late A Foundation will continue it's adult friendly entertainment with DJ's, live music and more in our licensed cafe bar.... providing a well-earned opportunity for the staff of all the Liverpool Galleries to join the rest of our visitors and let their hair down at the end of the night!
