Salisbury Arts Centre

We believe that the arts make life better and that everyone should have the opportunity to experience them.

We regularly offer free activities – from Live Lunches to Family Festivals - so people can try things without worrying about money.

We know everybody likes different things. We love that individuality and we make it our business to offer a diverse programme to appeal to varying tastes. We realise not everyone will love everything we do but we don’t think that’s a bad thing. We’re confident you’ll like something.

We take pride in being brave enough to show things that are challenging. If it gets people thinking and talking, we think that’s positive!

Like all businesses and organisations we have specific focuses to drive us forwards: nurturing young people, encouraging participation through workshops and discussion, and keeping up with the digital era with filmmaking, photography and more. To keep these moving we have a number of projects, which you can read all about in Creative Projects.

Walking... Landscape... Memory

  • 7 January — 27 February 2016 *on now

This exhibition launches a year during which Salisbury Arts Centre focuses on environmental concerns. On show will be the work of three artists influenced by Wiltshire's landscape.

A series of black and white photographs by Fay Godwin from 1975 capture the timelessness of this landscape. Painter Lydia Halcrow (pictured) exhibits brand new work inspired by her walks on Salisbury Plain, collapsing tank path maps with landscape vistas to create brooding images. Rob Irving uses photographs and modified LiDAR maps to explore the myth of subterranean 'Earth energies', which course through Avebury's ritual landscape.
