The words I'm Shy

'The Shy Convention' with Gillian Wearing at Backlit Gallery

  • 31 October 2015

The event will start from 3pm on Saturday 31st October, 30 people will attend 2 FREE creative sessions; one about confidence building and the other creative writing – The objective is to prepare a song to perform later that evening as part of the 'personal karaoke' experience.

The evening will start from around 6.30 until late (£5 entry fee) and be open to more people (booking details to follow), those that haven't attended the afternoon sessions can still perform a karaoke, by creating a piece within a writing booth (like a voting station) and submit their entry for public performance later that evening. We will also have an anonymous booth, for people wanting to perform but not wanting the spotlight. During the evening you can view the Bloomberg exhibition during its final day, sit and watch spoken word and karaoke performances or join in the experience by presenting a piece yourself at Backlit’s newly developed public programmes space. Food and a bar will be open during the evening. Gillian and the creative session leaders will be present for the whole event. The evening will also be a great celebration marking the closing party to the Bloomberg exhibition.

Details about how to book a place either at the creative session or the evening event will be later announced at

Further detail to follow.
