An 18th century landscape 'forest' garden once home to the Bowes-Lyons family. Now, owned and managed by the National Trust, Gibside is a magnificent 600 acre estate for you to venture, exploring our woodlands, riverside and parkland to discover some of our rare and beautiful wildlife. Learn our history as you wander around the estate visiting our historic Palladian chapel, Column to Liberty, productive Walled Garden and majestic ruins of the Hall and Green House.

By cycle: within 500m of the C2C (coast 2 coast) route, as it passes through Rowlands Gill, near Gateshead
