Visitors are encouraged to come on foot, by cycle or public transport. Car parking and cycle racks available at Clough Hole car park on Widdop Road and Midgehole car park on Midgehole Road. During busy times limited car parking leads to heavy congestion. There are steep drops and water hazards throughout the property. Gibson Mill has narrow and low doorways and uneven floors. There is a possibility that Gibson Mill will be closed if there is insufficient power. WC not always available. WCs at Gibson Mill, closed at 6.

Crafty Friday: A Cut Above the Rest - Steeking

Developed in traditional Shetland knitting, but also used in the Nordic countries, this can be used with colourwork or single colour knits. Yorkshire lass, Ann Kingstone, designer and author, will take you gently through the techniques and tricks of steeking and edging. You need never purl in colourwork again, and you have the chance to pick Ann's brain about her knitwear designs. The day includes a delicious lunch, and is based in our cosy Weaving Shed Cafe at Gibson Mill.

Cutting your knitting!?! Yes, you can - and once learned, this technique makes for speedier knitting of garments. This is a fun and exciting workshop - students always leave enthused and actually keen to cut their knitting! Also known as Glass on Glass Mosaic, this is the technique of gluing coloured pieces of glass onto a clear base piece of glass to an overall design, which is then grouted. The finished panel is more intricate than you could achieve with traditional leaded stained glass but is a simpler method to learn. You can design your own panel or choose from a selection of designs. You will complete the panel in the session and be able to take it home with you at the end of the day.

Genevieve Thompson of WickedGenCrafts leads an exclusive workshop on this unusual technique. The only pre-requisite for this course is enthusiasm and a willingness to learn
you don't have to have glass-working experience. Walshaw Reservoirs Walk
