Texture, Shape & Colour

  • 1 May 2017 12-5:30pm
  • 2 — 7 May 2017
  • 9 — 14 May 2017

Suzy Abrahams focuses on three key elements of artistic composition:

Texture, Shape & Colour.

Opens Midday Bank Holiday Mon 1 May 2017. Meet both artists and speak to them about their inspiration and techniques on Mon 1 May and Sundays 7 & 14 May 2017.

Since studying at Goldsmiths', London, followed by working as a graphic designer, Suzy Abrahams has been fascinated by geometric shapes, in particular, the circle, a recurring element in much of her work. Suzy’s unique style combines flat areas of colour with areas of brushstrokes and mark making to achieve expression and texture, all within a ‘hard-edged’ environment.
Suzy's mark making is influenced by nature and her surroundings.
‘In addition to my usual large paintings, for this exhibition, I have created a whole range of ‘mini’ canvases. They are all unique and can be displayed on a shelf or side table, as they sit on small wooden easels or alternatively can be hung traditionally on a wall’, explains Suzy.

Greeting cards and unframed limited edition giclee prints will also be available in the gallery.

Suzy’s paintings will be complemented by Julie Barham’s tableware which is inspired by the patterns and colours she sees reflected in nature, architecture and textiles.
Her more sculptural work reflects the natural beauty of the coast and of plants and their seedpods, which will be on display in the pretty Fountain Garden at the rear of the gallery.
