5024 Nunney Castle on Yeovil Railway Centre's turntable

Heritage railway centre with original Southern Railway 70ft turntable. Visitors can see main line steam turned and serviced from special viewing platform. Regular Steam Train Days with Miniature Railway with demonstrations of turntable from March to October with special events (see website for details) and Santa Specials in December.
Visitor Centre (with refreshments) is in 1864 built Great Western Railway Transfer Shed (part Grade II listed) with display of railway artefacts. Shed originally used to transfer goods from Broad to Standard Gauge.
Shop open Sunday mornings (10am to noon) and during events.

Steam Train Day & Tractor Display

  • 11 October 2015 10:30am-4pm

A steam train day using Andrew Barclay 0-4-0 steam engine 'Lord Fisher' to give train rides along the 1/3rd mile of the ex-Great Western Railway Clifton Maybank branch. Passengers travel in historic brake van vehicle or coach on this day. Trains run every 20 minutes (except for a lunch break) and
visitors can enjoy unlimited trips on the day as well as on the Miniature Railway.

Other attractions include a Shop, Light Refreshments, Model Railway and exhibits and displays (including demonstrations of the turntable). There will also be a display of work by local wildlife artist Sue Bowditch and pre-booked Driver Experience events are available (please check website for further information).

Free parking on site (subject to availability) – go to Yeovil Junction station, BA22 9UU and turn right under the low bridge half way up the station approach road – look out for large ‘Yeovil Railway Centre’ sign and arrow!

Admission (including Steam Train and Miniature Railway rides £7 adult, Children £3.50 (aged 5-15) whilst children under 5 and members are admitted free with a paying adult.

Come dressed up in your scarey outfits! Prize for scariest costume! Free Horror Bag for children! Ghostly steam train rides from the haunted house into the night included......Halloween themed food on sale!!

Admission (inc Members) prices are £5 pre-booked and paid min 24 hours in advance. or £6 on the evening subject to still being availability as numbers will be limited. (one Under 5 will be admitted FREE with a paying adult). A £1 fee per booking will be added to help cover the PayPal charge.
