Our museum is located at the Essex Wildlife Trust Langdon Nature Reserve. The Haven Plotlands Museum is a 1930s bungalow and garden that shows what life was like for resident Plotlanders before the building of Basildon New Town. The houses were originally built as holiday homes by families (mainly from London) who bought individual plots. The Haven Museum, the last reamining house, has been owned by Essex Wildlife Trust since the 1980s.
The Museum's aim is to provide people with a glimpse into life on the Plotlands in the 1930s and 1940s and to educate people about their local history.
