Lyn Armitage

Balcony Gallery - Colours of Summer

  • 2 June — 26 September 2015 *on now

A collection of paintings to encapsulate the promise of summer. Lyn leaves the dim darkness of winter to travel to the freshness of the newly planted and emerging early gardens and then onto the tropical colours of hot summer borders. From small pots of Auriculas to fields of flowers, her paintings sing with vibrant colours and the textures of plant life.
This passion for flowers is reflected in a sympathetic blend of light and colour which she imbues in her paintings. Lyn creates loose sensitive watercolours which, alongside spontaneous and strong acrylic canvasses, capture a sense of immediacy and isolates an unforgettable moment in time.

MS Johanna

Constructed Photographs

  • 29 October — 5 December 2015

Now living in North Devon, Dave Green’s current work is themed on sea caves, shipwrecks and the wild rocky shore. All of Dave’s photography is digital and his finished images are often constructed from more than 100 separate photographs, of different exposure and angle of view, all from a fixed point. He achieves the richest detail, from the deepest blacks to the brightest highlights, in an often extremely high contrast scene. This exhibition, incorporating the best of Dave’s current work, includes the development of his technique from last century's 35mm film triptychs to his present day stitching of multiple digital files together.

Rod Shaw

Light in the Landscape

  • 10 December 2015 — 23 January 2016

n enjoying hill walking and his passion for the beauty of the natural world in all seasons, Rod turned to the landscape as a source of inspiration for painting. When touring Britain and Ireland over many years, from the Western Isles in Scotland to the creeks and coves of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, as well as numerous places in between, he has always found endless possibilities for painting.

In “Light in the Landscape", Rod depicts local scenes as well as those from elsewhere and explores the way in which the landscape is transformed by the fleeting effects of light and weather, using a variety of formats and considered compositions.
