Stoke on Trent City Archives is part of the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Archive Service, and is the main record office for the city of Stoke on Trent.

Our collections have been Designated as outstanding. They include records of the pottery industry, local government, nonconformist churches, landed families and estates, public institutions such as courts, schools and hospitals, charities, businesses, local clubs and societies.

Our searchrooms are open to all, and our friendly and knowledgeable staff help to facilitate research into family history, local and community history, and the history of the pottery industry.

Admission charges

Use of the reading rooms is free of charge, but bookings are advised in order to guarantee the space you require (table space, microfiche reader, etc.). On your first visit you will need to register with us, providing proof of identity and address. Further details are available on our website.
