SWAAG is a group of enthusiasts in the northernmost Yorkshiredales who are contributing to the knowledge base of the history of our dales through archaeological and related activity. SWAAG, affiliated with the Swaledale Museum, work under the guidance and supervision of Tim Laurie, the leading expert on prehistoric landscapes in the area. Our work programme meets a wide range of interests: site surveying and mapping linking geology to historic land use, recording ancient and relict vegetation and trees as well as publishing reports. We are committed to providing associated community activities. We are currently planning our first excavation project.
