Lowlands, the West Derby Community Centre, is a Grade II-listed former merchant's mansion in its own grounds. Established in 1957, it is a charity offering hire facilities for events of all kinds plus regular club and society meetings. From 1959 to 1966 it was the home of the Pillar Club attended by members of the Beatles and the leading musicians of the time in their early days including The Hollies, Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Searchers and Herman's Hermits.
