Mrs Smith's Cottage Museum
3 East Road
Mrs Smith's Cottage is a registered museum preserving the small home, and the life and times of Hilda Smith who lived in the cottage for 73 years until her death at the age of 102. Hilda did not believe in modern conveniences. The museum retains the original washhouse, a single cold tap, the black range, privy and simple ladders to the bedrooms along with furniture and artefacts just as she left them.
The museum is staffed by local volunteers and is open every Sunday from March through November with additional openings in June through September.
