Rainham Village is one of the most significant historic villages in the region, with roots going back to its role as a major centre in the Saxon period and important evidence of settlement from periods well before that. Rainham Library, located on the Broadway in Rainham is a very popular facility that attracts a large number of high profile authors and public speakers.

Rainham is served by the C2C rail line and has bus services to nearby South Hornchurch, Elm Park, Hornchurch, Romford, Barking, Aveley and Lakeside shopping centre.

The main retail area “The Broadway” has a large supermarket and a selection of independent clothes shops, pharmacies, green grocers, bakers, butchers, takeaway shops and several Public Houses. There is a post office, a church and the library.
