The Magnificent Seven

Craven's Magnificent Seven - The Grand Debate

  • 6 March 2018 2-4pm

We need your help to decide which is the most significant object representing Civilisations in Craven!

As part of the BBC’s Civilisations Festival Curators and Librarians at Craven Museum & Gallery, The Folly and Skipton Library have chosen seven objects from their respective collections that they think represent Civilisations in Craven - ‘Craven’s Magnificent Seven! We would like your help in deciding which of these seven is the most significant in Craven’s history.

Curators, librarians and guest speakers will make the case for each object on Tuesday 6th March from 2pm until 4 pm at a grand debate on ‘Craven’s Magnificent Seven’ at Skipton Library. But ultimately you decide which object best represents civilisations in Craven and you’ll be able to cast your vote on the day.

To help you decide the objects will be on display at Craven Museum & Gallery at Skipton Town Hall and Skipton Library throughout February. Keep your eye out for pop up exhibitions of pictures of Craven’s Magnificent Seven objects and information about each item at libraries across Craven so even if you can’t make the grand debate on March 6th you can still have your say and vote for your favourite object. In the week before the debate you can find out more about each object through the Skipton Town Hall Facebook page and you’ll be able to vote there on Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th March too.

Once the votes are counted we’ll announce the winning object through local and social media as well as at Skipton Library, Craven Museum and The Folly.
