2014 - CELEBRATING 60 YEARS OF The RAF AT HOLMPTON

YOUR CHANCE TO VISIT THIS UNDERGROUND WORLD set 100ft beneath the East Yorkshire countryside just three miles from Withernsea (19 miles from Hull) - The Massive 35,000sq ft Bunker has been Operational for 60 years - 1953 to 1974 Radar - 1980 to 1991 RAF Support Command - 1995 to 2003 UK Air CCIS - 2003 to 2013 Training & Communications.

Our Fully Guided Award Winning Tours bring an entirely new Family Friendly Tour for 2014 brought to life with Sounds, Films, Demonstrations & Shows - All tours are conducted by fully qualified guides with Question and Answer Sessions & Photo Opportunities - We have extensive car parking - shop - refreshments & Wc's.

Getting there

Take the A1033 to Withernsea then opposite the Total Petrol Station take the
road signed Holmpton & Underground Bunker. Follw the road 3 miles to Holmpton and then drive straight through the Village and take the 1st turn right signed RAF HOLMPTON & UNDERGROUND BUNKER, our gates are then 750yds on the left

RAF HOLMPTON contains a major PUBLIC TOUR AND EXHIBITION depicting over 50 years service of this major UK Command Centre. The exhibiton covers the first 25 years of Radar, the subsequent use of the site for RAF Support Command and its current use today. The exhibition is interperetd by a full guided tour, audio visuual presentations, demonstrations and shows. The site contains a great deal of authentic apparatus and artefacts depicting the life of the facility

Heritage Open Days 2014 – 20th Anniversary

Your chance to walk round with no films or sound effects and no guides - Just take in the sights and snap as many photographs as you like - This event also re-unites some of the last Royal Observer team ever to work at RAF Holmpton and it's your chance to meet them in the actual operations room they used deep underground right up until the end of 1995 - Afterwards you can pick up a discount voucher to come back in the afternoon at 14:00 for a fully guided tour of the whole Bunker Complex. So why not make a day of it - A free visit in the morning - Meet the Observers - Lunch at the pub just 800yds away and then a Full Tour in the afternoon
