BRIEF HISTORY: RAF Holmpton started life in the 1950's as an Early Warning Radar Station and by the 1970's it had gone on to become a major hub in the UK's Air Defences. In the 1980s it was extensively refurbished and became the National War HQ for RAF Support Command. In the 1990's it underwent a major rebuild to become an Experimental Electronic Warfare Operations Centre. In 2004 it also became home to a new Public Exhibiton set in the 35,000sq ft command bunker nearly 100ft beneath the East Yorkshire countryside. The Bunker remains a part of the RAF Estate and is still in use today.

FOR VISITORS: Our Award Winning Fully Guided Tours, along with shows and demonstrations, provide an insight into the Cold War World of the RAF & the part RAF HOLMPTON played in our Defence as the largest RAF installation in the East Riding of Yorkshire. All our tours are updated every year and 2012 will bring some new features for our visitors.

OVERVIEW: RAF Holmpotn is still a part of the RAF & the Defence Estate. The historic collection is managed by the ROYAL AIR FORCE HOLMPTON PRESERVATION SOCIETY (A Registered Charity) - The completion of the restoration project is now scheduled for 2013, about 2 years ahead of schedule.
