Harrow has an estimated number of 58,792 members of the South Asian communities resident in the Borough. Local Indian population is the third highest in London.

The Sangat Centre is primarily an advice centre for Asians in Harrow. However, it also contains an archive of the history of Asians in the area going back 100 years. Some of this material is on display at the centre, and some is online on their website. For example, they include papers from the 1970s describing the effect of the sudden influx of expelled Ugandan Asians on the borough, and how the community gradually adapted.
