The New Forest Centre houses a museum of the New Forest, a temporary exhibition gallery, a reference library, shop and VIC. We run an education service that caters to local schools and a lifelong learning programme of exhibitions and events.

The Museum and Library are wholly owned by the New Forest Ninth Centenary Trust, a registered independent charity.

Opening hours

The New Forest Museum, the New Forest Gallery, the Visitor Information Centre and the Museum Gift Shop are open 10am - 5pm (last admissions to the Museum at 4pm), 7 days a week. Please allow around 1 hour for your visit.

The Christopher Tower New Forest Reference Library, based within the Museum, is open Wednesday to Saturday from 10am until 4.30pm. Please call in or ring in advance of your visit to ensure that the librarian is available.

We are closed from 12noon on Christmas Eve and all day Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
