This great little Museum has two fun and fact-packed biographical galleries and a fantabulous Story Centre. In Boy and Solo, visitors can learn about the events that shaped Roald Dahl as a writer, from his illicit motorbike outings at school to his time as a World War Two fighter pilot.

In the Story Centre, visitors can get creative with plot, character and language and discover how writers from J.K. Rowling to Benjamin Zephaniah write. Visitors can also explore a replica of Roald Dahl's famous Writing Hut, sit in his writing chair and get some gloriumptious story ideas.

For 7+ years: to celebrate our Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator weekend, we’re delighted to host Nick Cook, author of the Cloud Riders trilogy. Nick will read from his book, Breaking Storm, create a mini tornado in the room with a special tornado machine, and even make airships appear to float around in the air! An awesome session not to be missed!

For 6+ years: join our friends from the Reptile Roadshow and meet the Enormous Crocodile’s friends in the jungle. Come face to face with swiggles of cold-blooded creatures and minibeasts. You’ll get the chance to hold a chinchilla, a snake, a lizard or even some buckswashling bugs – if you dare! Perfect for budding young David Attenboroughs, you’ll also learn lots of fascinating facts about the animals and their habitats. Only suitable for children age 6 and up. Due to the nature of this event we will operate a strict age policy.
