This great little Museum has two fun and fact-packed biographical galleries and a fantabulous Story Centre. In Boy and Solo, visitors can learn about the events that shaped Roald Dahl as a writer, from his illicit motorbike outings at school to his time as a World War Two fighter pilot.

In the Story Centre, visitors can get creative with plot, character and language and discover how writers from J.K. Rowling to Benjamin Zephaniah write. Visitors can also explore a replica of Roald Dahl's famous Writing Hut, sit in his writing chair and get some gloriumptious story ideas.

Enter the Inventing Room with Victoria Glass

For 6+ years: an hour of fun in Willy Wonka’s Inventing Room with our splendiferous Food Writer in Residence, Victoria Glass. You’ll become an Oompa Loompa and find out how your senses can trick you through phizz whizzing taste-tests. If you dare, you can try grasshopper, yuzu, popping candy and squid ink. You’ll end by making a truffle with a twist, that will either be delumptious or disgusterous.

Awesome Animals Day: Reptile Roadshow

For 6+: join our friends from the Reptile Roadshow and get in touch with your inner naturalist. Meet a real life Esio Trot and come face to face with swiggles of other cold-blooded creatures and minibeasts. You’ll get the chance to hold a chinchilla, a snake, a lizard and even some buckswashling bugs – if you dare! Perfect for budding young David Attenboroughs, you’ll also learn lots of fascinating facts about the animals and their habitats.
