The south front of Leith Hill Place, Dorking, Surrey (Now open to the public)

Woodland and open heath with Leith Hill Tower commanding extensive views. The highest point in south-east England, the hill is crowned by an 18th-century Gothic tower, with panoramic views northwards to London and the English Channel to the south. There are colourful displays of rhododendrons and bluebells in May and June. Rugged countryside provides exhilarating walking in woodland and over heathland and farmland.

Summer recital series - Concert No 1. 'Ralph Vaughan Williams as student'

In association with the Royal College of Music, introduced by RCM Director, Professor Colin Lawson. Vasara Quartet (string quartet) Emma Oldfield - violin, Jessica Coleman - violin, Emma Purslow - viola, Jobine Siekman - cello.

All the concerts take place in the very drawing room where Ralph Vaughan Williams, Royal College alumnus and professor, grew up and took his first musical steps. This marks the beginning of an apt and exciting partnership between the Royal College of Music and Leith Hill Place. Celebrating the life and music of Ralph Vaughan Williams, this is the first of four concerts featuring talented young musicians specially selected by the RCM's professional development department.
