Grade I listed garden, extensive woodlands and Italianate mansion. This spectacular estate overlooking the River Thames has a series of gardens, each with its own character, featuring topiary, statuary, water gardens, a formal parterre, Octagon temple, informal vistas, woodland and riverside walks. The present house, the third on the site, was built by Charles Barry for the Duke of Sutherland in 1851. Once the home of Nancy, Lady Astor, it is now let as an hotel and is open only on certain days.

National Garden Scheme Day at Cliveden

Come and enjoy the Gardens at Cliveden and have a chat with our National Trust Academy student, who is sponsored by NGS. Normal admission charges apply. This money will be donated to the National Garden Scheme.

Wild Wednesday - "50 Things" Extravaganza

This is an ideal opportunity to find out more about Cliveden and get involved in some fabulous outdoor activities during the local school holidays.

This is a drop in session so no booking is necessary. All participating children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. Ideal for children aged 4-11 years. Fun to be had whatever the weather.

Springtime Tree Climbing

Coordinated by the Big Tree Climbing Company, have fun in the trees at Cliveden. Explore the canopy and have a go at tree climbing, a zip wire and a rope swing! Fun for all the family. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Family Camping, Moths and Moonlight

Take part in this fantastic evening under the stars, with exploring, moth-trapping, bug hunts, toasting marshmallows over the fire and story-telling. Please bring your own picnic for dinner, then wake up to a delicious breakfast and take part in our morning activities. Please also bring your own tent and any other camping items you would like.

This activity runs from 14:00 on Saturday to 11:00 on Sunday.
