Worcestershire County Arts Service
Worcestershire County Council’s Arts and Events Service was established in April 1998 following Local Government Re-organisation (LGR). The Service, which is part of the Corporate Services Directorate, is located within Cultural Services Division alongside Libraries, Record Office, Museums and Archaeology. The unit currently employs four members of staff; two full time Arts Officers, one part time events administrator (3 days per week), and one Arts administrator (2 days per week). The Arts Service is managed by the County Arts Officer.
The work of the Service can be divided into two principal functions: Arts and Corporate Events. In both functions, the Service undertakes two kinds of work: * Enabling providing support and resources for others to take part in and contribute to the Arts in Worcestershire * Direct Provision where appropriate, developing and managing facilities (eg Arts in Libraries), or projects (eg Skills on Show). The Arts Service also commissions local and regional arts companies / agencies to deliver some projects, where it is more appropriate to do so.
