We encourage access to and exploitation of a huge collection of lending and information stock for users at 15 libraries throughout the Stockport area.
We also promote and support the use of our People's network computer facilities.
Our four key commitments are the provision of high quality information and advice, supporting learners of all ages and abilities, delivering real cultural impact through the promotion of books and reading and ensuring access for all.
Central Library houses three different departments the Lending Library, Information Library and Heritage Library.
There are branch libraries at Bramhall, Bredbury, Brinnington, Cheadle, Cheadle Hulme, Dialstone, Edgeley, Great Moor, Hazel Grove, The Heald Green, Heatons, High Lane, Marple, and Reddish.
The Home Library Service delivers books and other items to people unable to visit our libraries and to their full time carers. To find out more please ring 0161 474 5600.
The School Library Service aims to provide a library service to schools which helps to raise achievement and increase access to a broad and enriched curriculum by providing materials and advice about resources.
The Support for Learners Team and Heritage Team have recently been involved in a series of World War Two reminiscence sessions where they helped people to post their WW2 memories up onto People's War website.
The library service is planning to support the Their Past, Your Future project by building on links that they have built with WW2 veterans during the People's War Project.
