Sutton Library is the largest library in the borough. It was extensively refurbished in 2004 to meet the changing needs of the modern customer.

Since it first opened in 1975, Sutton Library has been at the forefront of the public library movement, scoring many 'firsts' - the first public library to appoint a library writer-in-residence; the first to loan CDs; the first to establish a video lending library; the first to lend umbrellas and the first to offer a full public library service on a Sunday.
