The Architecture Centre is an independent organisation dedicated to the exploration and promotion of excellence in all aspects of the built environment. It was founded by the Bristol Centre for the Advancement of Architecture (BCAA), a charitable trust. The Centre's programme includes exhibitions, guided tours, visits, discussions, workshops and lectures. We are also working with schools and colleges on ways of using the built environment as a teaching medium. The Centre's principal aim is to encourage public demand for excellent design by increasing people's awareness and enjoyment of their built environment. We also aim to provide a meeting place for all professions involved in the creation and maintenance of the built environment.

A website and trail exploring the impact of the sugar and slavery on the built environment of Bristol. Developed in partnership with young people and local historians the trail features many key buildings and locations connected to Bristol's history with the sugar and slave trades. The website contains education resources and podcast material.

Bristol Blitzed gives a fascinating insight into pre-war Bristol and its post war development. It includes an architectural walking trail of the city centre which explores the impact of WW2 bombing raids on Bristol's built environment. Sustainable Schools: case studies and event films

The Architecture Centre has compiled a series of case studies about newly designed schools with a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability. In addition we hosted a series of talks by local architects working on sustainable new school buildings in the south west region.
