Discover is the UK’s first Story Centre for children aged 0-11 and their families. Let your imagination run wild on our indoor Story World, where you can take a trip in a special steamship or climb a look-out to the clouds. Then take your adventure outside into our Story Garden and slide down a monster's tongue or drive your very own taxi.

Our interactive family exhibition, The Fantastic World of Dr. Seuss, invites you to step inside the worlds from some of Dr. Seuss's most popular stories including The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, The Lorax and Oh, The Places You'll Go! Climb into the Once-ler wagon, dress up as Thing 1 and Thing 2 and build your own Truffula trees.

We run a programme of events throughout the year including storytelling sessions for 0-3s, author and illustrator events, workshops and more. Don't forget to visit our shop and cafe before you leave.

Interactive exhibits encouraging children to develop their imagination and literacy skills whilst having fun! Exhibits include: The Magic Tower(where children can listen to stories in different languages and go down a slide), the Lollipopter (which could be a boat, plane, helicopter, submarine or spaceship), the Secret Cave, and Polka-Dot Sounds (sound beams and lights are used to create and magical mixture of sound and movement).

The Cat in the Hat

The Fantastic World of Dr. Seuss

Step inside this vivid and immersive exhibition inspired by the beautiful illustrations from Dr. Seuss's funny and fantastical stories including: The Cat in the Hat, The Lorax, Green Eggs and Ham and Oh, The Places You'll Go!

Climb onto the Once-ler Wagon, dress up as Thing 1 and Thing 2, play music with the Boom Band and maybe even come across The Cat in the Hat or Sam-I-Am. Dr. Seuss's books explode into life, for all to discover the sense of fun explored in his words and language that make them some of the most popular books of all time.

Splish, splash, gurgle, gargle... join us for a brilliant rain-filled multi-sensory event with our Story Builders. Puppetry, voices and movement are all used during this beautiful and fun session for babies and toddlers.

From Thurs 2 March - Sun 5 March we will be running special premiere performances featuring music, singing and puppets with performer Alice Mackenzie, puppeteer and performer Matt Hutchinson and beatboxer Jack 'Hobbit' Hobbs.

Join Kristyna Litten to cut, stick, paste and create a collage of your every own pet robot, as Norton and Alpha take over Discover for World Book Day.

In Kristyna's new picture book, Norton the Robot loves to recycle battered wheels, rusty cogs and broken springs from what he finds. He makes the most amazing inventions, including his very own pet dog called Alpha.
