Illustrating Harry Potter

Jim Kay's original drawings and art for the new fully illustrated edition of J K Rowling's Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, published by Bloomsbury, are complemented by an interactive exhibition of everything Harry Potter. Costumes for adults and children are available, and activities include a puppet theatre, platform 9 3/4, trying on a sorting hat and taking part in a quiz.

Extraordinary Objects

Working with people of upper Coquetdale and North Northumberland Jose Snook has produced and exhibition of photographs and spoken word recordings which explore our relationship with objects and the stories and memories with which they resonate.

Dig It

Delve into 10000 years of history with our hands-on exhibition exploring the fantastic archeaology of the region. Includes dig boxes, artefacts and evidence from prehistory to the modern day.

Heritage Open Days

Heritage Open Days: Bailiffgate Museum and Gallery

  • 9 — 10 September 2017 10am-4pm

Bailiffgate Museum and Gallery depicts ten thousand years of the history of Alnwick and the surrounding area through artefacts, colourful panels and interactive displays and games. Visitors can walk through a print shop, an Edwardian classroom and a miner's kitchen, put on a hard hat and crawl through a mine or try on Border Reiver armour. As well as waiving the admission charges on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th September, we will have object handling activities, where visitors can find out more about individual items in our Collection, and drop-in activities based on our current exhibition "Dig IT!" which explores the archaeology of Northumberland. Please check our website nearer the time for more details.
