Heritage Open Days: YellowaY Motor Coach Museum
- 12 September 2015
A real treat for Rochdale folk seeking nostalgia will be a visit to the town by the mobile YellowaY Motor Coach Museum. The 1915 incorporation of Holt Bros (Rochdale) Ltd, which became YellowaY Motor Services Ltd in 1932 operated luxury coach services from their Rochdale base from 1932 to 1988, taking locals on their annual holidays and day trips in great style to destinations all over Britain. The YellowaY HQ and depot were located on Weir Street, now the site of Number One Riverside. This mobile museum is housed in an original 1976 YellowaY coach, converted into what is probably Britain's smallest motor museum. Visitors will be able to view the collection of YellowaY memorabilia covering this extended period of the company's history on Saturday and dream of Wakes Weeks holidays gone by. In this centenary year, there will also be a display in Touchstones Rochdale to celebrate this.
