FLAME! the Gasworks Museum of Ireland





Carrickfergus boasts Ireland's sole surviving coal gasworks and is one of only three left in the British Isles.
Visit this unique site and see how gas was made from coal in Europes largest set of hoizontal retorts. You'll also get a great view of the town from the top of the gasholder! Marvel at how gas was made for light, heat and power and learn about our future with natural gas.

Getting there
As you approach Carrickfergus on the A2 Shore Road from Belfast, before the roundabout turn left into Davy's Street.Travel approximately 500 yards and turn right into Irish Quarter West. The Museum is half way down this one way street on the right.
