Since 1952 the property of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, the Castle of Mey is situated on the north coast of Caithness, in the parish of Canisbay, about 15 miles east of Thurso and 6 miles west of John O'Groats. It stands on rising ground about 400 yards from the seashore, overlooking the Pentland Firth and the Orkney Islands.

2013: 1 May to 30 September (closed from 29th July to 12th August inclusive)
The castle is open every day from 10.20 am until last admission at 4.00 pm.

The visitor centre, tearoom, shop, grounds and animal centre are open every day during the normal season from 10.00 am until 5.00 pm.

7th September - 6th October: Adults £5.00 Under 16s FREE
