Castell Henllys is a prehistoric promontory forts dating to around 600BC, the site of excavations for twenty years and home to several re-constructed thatched Iron Age buildings.

Festival of Archaeology 2014: Celtic adventure

Return to the Iron Age with Merrin and find your inner Celt! Merrin needs strong & willing slaves to help with her chores and to defend the fort! Cook in a Celtic kitchen, help build a new roundhouse, join the ranks of trainee warriors. Can you handle the Iron Age? If you're 7-11 years old, and think you can, the hard work starts at 11:30 & 14.00. The enjoyment costs £2.50 per child + admission. Limited places so booking advisable.

Festival of Archaeology 2014: Discover the Celts at Castell Henllys

  • 24 July 2014

Go totally tribal and join a cast of local Celts - the Demetae! Help them with their activities from building a roundhouse, cooking the evening meal to working with willow. Try your hand at using a sling and having your face painted like a warrior! Tour the fort with one of the Celts at 11:30 or 14.00. Activities £1 each.
