Indifferent Matter: From Object to Sculpture
Ancient objects are displayed alongside iconic late-twentieth century works that radically changed the ways sculpture is understood. Neolithic Chinese jade bi discs and t'sung columns are displayed alongside Felix Gonzalez-Torres' '"Untitled" (Placebo)' (1991), a field of silver-wrapped sweets consumed by visitors at will, and replenished at the end of each day.

The Age of Innocence: Replicating the Ideal Portrait in the New Sculpture Movement
In 2012, Leeds Museums and Galleries received a donation of a plaster version of the portrait bust 'The Age of Innocence' (c. 1897) by Alfred Drury (1856-1944), a sculptor of great importance to the city. In 1894 Leeds Art Gallery commissioned the sculpture 'Circe', which won the gold medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1900.

Stephen Cripps: Pyrotechnic Sculptor
Cripps' proposals ranged from mobile crematoria to mechanical gardens and exploding balloons, through to floating fires and choreographed aerial performances.
Some of Cripps' sculptural experiments were realised as unpredictable volatile events, involving explosions and fireworks - in 1979 he joined the London Fire Brigade to further his knowledge of pyrotechnic devices.

Dennis Oppenheim: Thought Collision Factories
His artistic practice encompassed actions, performances, installations, sculptures, film and architecture, all constantly challenging the comfort zones of artist, viewer and museum.
