Pickering Castle is set in an attractive moors-edge market town. It is a classic and well-preserved example of an early earthwork castle refortified in stone during the 13th and 14th centuries, centred upon a shell-keep crowning an impressive motte. There is an exhibition in the chapel.

Wartime Weekend

  • 11 — 12 October 2014 12-4pm

Meet the soldiers of the East Yorkshire Regiment as they drill, plan and prepare for battle. Preparation for D-Day landings and section attack training complete with rifle firing. In conjunction with the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, “Railway at War” weekend. Please note limited car parking in Pickering.
