Today the former studios play host to a varied programme of temporary exhibitions with artwork from regional artists.

Souvenirs and Epiphanies by Christine Anderson
- 14 December 2013 — 15 March 2014 *on now
LOCAL artist Christine Anderson has returned ‘home’ with her first exhibition in eight years.
The event, which runs at Ashton’s Central Art Gallery from 14 December to 15 March, is full of her delicately embroidered and sewn sculptures featuring a variety of animals such as rabbits and butterflies.
Visitors will also see several large scale lino printed pyjama-clad characters attempting to sleep and small characters on unicycles balancing on the tight-ropes stretched across the walls.
A spokesperson said: “With this exhibition she explores human emotion: from deep despair to euphoric joy and everything in between. Sometimes the artworks leave you saddened but the overwhelming sense of joy pulls you through and you end up leaving uplifted.
“The exhibition is a must see for anyone into their crafts and for anyone who thinks contemporary art isn’t for them. Although dealing with emotions and feelings Anderson manages to make an accessible exhibition, even children will enjoy locating the many hidden butterflies across the gallery.
