DRIP: an exhibition by Helen Oxley at Avenue Gallery

  • 23 September — 17 October 2014 *on now

Helen Oxley will be showing new and recent paintings at the University of Northampton’s Avenue Gallery this autumn.
Incorporating processes such as pouring, dripping, cutting, and layering, Helen’s practice evokes a sense of the canvas as a sensual skin and is informed by an awareness of the body’s inner workings within the containing frame that makes up its form and external identity;

“The making of the paintings becomes both a physical process and a violent act. By cutting through the canvas I am exposing vulnerabilities that are hidden from the view of others and questioning the idea of self. ”
